村山浅間神社
平安時代末期に富士山の噴火が衰えると末代上人など山 中で修行する人々が現れました。これが発展し、鎌倉時 代の終わりには富士山における修験道が成立します。こ の中心となったのが村山浅間神社（興法寺）です。江戸 時代末までここの修験者たちが大宮・村山口登山道を管 理しました。
As eruptions of Mount Fuji subsided at the end of the Heian Period, ascetic people like Matsudai Shonin began to do religious training on Fujisan. By the end of the Kamakura Period, the practice had evolved into the Buddhist sect of Shugendo on Mount Fuji. Murayama Sengen Shrine (Kohouji Temple) became the base of Shugendo and Shugen priests from the shrine maintained the Omiya Murayama-guchi climbing trail until the end of the Edo Period. |
